Transportation Alternatives
Promoting ride-share efforts by:
- Providing on-site ride-matching assistance to promote carpooling;
- Promoting the Department of Transportation's RIDESHARE program;
- Organizing or supporting a vanpool program; and
- Offering incentives to employees who carpool or vanpool.
Using parking policies to encourage employees or students to carpool or vanpool by:
- Providing free or discounted parking;
- Providing preferential parking; and/or
- Providing cash payments in lieu of free parking.
Promoting transit use by:
- Arranging for the sale of transit tickets or passes on or near the worksite;
- Making transit maps and route schedules available to employees and students;
- Scheduling meetings (where possible) at sites which are accessible to transit; and/or
- Working with other employers to develop transit route extensions to serve the area.
Promoting walking and bicycling by:
- Providing lockers and shower facilities for employees who bicycle to work;
- Incorporating bicycling and walking to work into a company wellness program;
- Working with local governments to develop bicycle trails that serve the community; and/or
- Working with other property owners and government entities to develop sidewalks and controlled cross walks on major roads.
