Provide Support Services and Information Sharing
Employees and students may not be aware of nearby transportation alternatives, or they may feel that they need a car to get home quickly for emergencies. The development of a marketing and support program can serve to promote the use of transportation alternatives. The actions that an organization can undertake include:
- Developing a transportation resource center;
- Displaying posters that promote transit, ridesharing, bicycling or walking;
- Distributing informational and promotional materials to employees and students; and/or
- Offering emergency rides home to employees who do not drive an automobile to work.
